Often misunderstood, the chemical peel is one of the oldest and safest cosmetic procedures in the world, dating back thousands of years.

A chemical peel is a treatment in which a natural acid solution is used to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. This is a popular treatment as only minimal downtime is required and it produces naturally rejuvenated skin.

A chemical peel enhances and smooths the texture of the skin. It works by removing the dead skin cells to encourage collagen production and cellular turnover, revealing the softer, smoother skin beneath leaving you with a glowing complexion. The result is brighter, more youthful skin, along with reduction of fine lines, acne scarring and pigmentation. A peel will help you achieve luminous, revitalised and glowing skin.

At Re:treat we use cutting edge skin peels, with clinically proven ingredients that are safe and effective for all skin types. We often advise the use of good home skin care products to complement your peel such as the world-renowned ZO skin health range by Dr Zein Obagi, Beverly hills.

There are different levels of chemical peels, depending on your specific skin type and result we are hoping to achieve.

Light Peels- A gentle peel, targeting the upper skin layer suitable for achieving rejuvenation and a youthful glow. Effective for acne and for anti-aging, can be repeated on an ongoing basis if needed, usually monthly.

Medium depth peels- Works on a deeper level in the skin, resulting in more exfoliation. Better for resurfacing the skin and treating acne scars, wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage.

ZO Medical 3 step peel

A Chemical Peel simply removes a layer of damaged skin from the face to reveal a newer, healthier layer. The chemical solution applied causes trauma to the epidermis of the skin, which causes the outer layers to peel away. When the skin begins to heal, increased cell growth produces new, healthier skin layers that give the face a more youthful appearance.

You’ll see the results of a chemical peel when your skin heals, generally within two to three weeks. However, improvement will be more significant if you complete a series of peels. Generally, 4 – 6 peels spaced between 2 – 4 weeks.

Depending on the depth, a chemical peel will last from 3-5 years. If it is a deeper peel, it will last longer.
