Often a cause for embarrassment and low self esteem, acne can affect your skin at any age.

In acne, the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum. The excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells and both substances form a plug in the follicle, resulting in  acne due to bacteria contamination.

Teenage acne is thought to be triggered by increased levels of  testosterone, which occurs during . The sebaceous glands are particularly sensitive to hormones. It's thought that increased levels of testosterone or hormones cause the glands to produce much more sebum than the skin needs.

Acne can run in families as there may be a genetic component.

More than 80% of cases of adult acne occur in women. It's thought that many cases of adult acne are caused by the changes in hormone levels that many women have at certain times.

These times include:

 – Flare-ups of acne can occur just before a womans period

 – Typically during the first three months of a womans pregnancy

 – Weight gain and the formation of small cysts inside the ovary

Other possible triggers of an acne flare-up include some cosmetic products, certain medications and smoking.

The most common concern as we age, a result of the natural reduction of collagen and elastin which keeps the skin supple and youthful.

Line and wrinkles are most noticeable around the eyes, mouth and frown area.

Wrinkles are caused by a combination of factors — some which can be controlled , others you can't:

Age.
As you get older, your skin naturally becomes less elastic and more fragile due to a reduction in collagen production. Decreased production of natural oils dries your skin and makes it appear more wrinkled. Fat in the deeper layers of your skin also diminishes. This causes loose, saggy skin and more-pronounced lines and crevices.

Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.
speeds the natural aging process due to DNA damage, and is the primary cause of early wrinkling. Exposure to UV light breaks down your skin's connective tissue — collagen and elastin fibers, which lie in the deeper layer of skin (dermis).Without the supportive connective tissue, your skin loses strength and flexibility. Skin then begins to sag and wrinkle prematurely.

Smoking.
Smoking can accelerate the normal aging process of your skin, contributing to wrinkles. This may be due to changes in the blood supply to your skin and presence of toxins.

Repeated facial expressions.
Facial movements and expressions, such as squinting or smiling, lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Each time you use a facial muscle, a small groove forms beneath the surface of the skin. And as skin ages, it loses its flexibility and is no longer able to spring back in place. These grooves then become permanent features on your face.

Acne Scarring

Acne scarring can sometimes develop as a complication of acne. Any type of acne spot can lead to scarring, but it's more common when the most serious types of spots (nodules and cysts) burst and damage nearby skin.

It can also occur if you pick or squeeze spots, so it's important not to do this. Different types of scarring can appear on the skin but almost all can be improved with some form of collagen induction.

Rosacea

Symptoms often begin with episodes of flushing, where the skin turns red for a short period, but other symptoms can develop as the condition progresses, such as burning and stinging sensation, permanent redness, spots, & small blood vessels in the skin becoming visible. The exact cause is often unknown, but triggers include sun exposure, stress, alcohol and extremes of temperature.

Lip shape & Volume

Full and voluminous lips are a sign of vitality and youthfulness. The lips can be enhanced if naturally lacking in volume, or as a treatment for the volume and elasticity loss that occurs as part of the normal ageing process. Asymmetries or balancing of the lips for a more harmonious appearance can also be done.

Structural changes happen in the deeper layers of the skin. When we're young, fat in the face is evenly distributed that plumps up the cheeks and areas around the eyes and mouth. With age, that fat loses volume, and shifts downward. There is also a weakening of ligaments and a reduction in muscle tone and bone density,  leading to a loss of support for facial features.

Features that were formerly round may sink, and skin that was smooth and tight gets loose and saggy. Meanwhile other parts of the face gain fat, particularly the lower half, so we tend to get baggy around the chin and jowly in the neck.

Years of sun exposure can result in hyperpigmentation, a condition marked by increased melanin production that results in patchy skin color or a blotchy complexion. The extent of sun damage depends largely on a person’s skin colour and his or her history of long-term or intense sun exposure.

Other  triggers of pigmentation in women also include the contraceptive pill and pregnancy which alter hormone levels. This coupled with sun exposure can result in patchy dark spots, often on the upper lip and forehead. It's very important to wear a good spf daily, such as ZO Oclipse to reduce the harmful effects from the sun.

Under Eye Circles

A common issue, with many causative factors, making you look tired or older than you are

mostly commonly a sign of tiredness,  other factors that can contribute include:

Genetic factors, allergies, stress, poor general health, and ageing due to thinning of the delicate skin in that region.

Hyperhydrosis

(Excessive Sweating)

Sometimes an embarrasing condition which can affect many parts of the body, but an effective solution is available.

Botox is used to temporarily block the secretion of the chemical that is responsible for "turning on" the body's sweat glands. By blocking, or interrupting, this chemical messenger, botulinum toxin safely "turns off" sweating at the area where it has been injected.

Treating excessive sweating of the armpits, hands, feet, head and face, and other relatively small body areas (like under the breasts) with botox is safe and effective. When used to treat , Botox has been shown to result in an 82-87% decrease in sweating in that area.

Jaw Grinding

Habitual grinding of the teeth during deep sleep, can result in many problems, such as worn teeth, headaches and jaw pain (TMJ). Often excessive grinding can be linked to stress.

Botox can be used to reduce the muscular activity of the main muscle responsible for clenching of the teeth.  This reduces the grinding force and helps alleviate jaw or grinding problems.

In higher doses, a wide or muscular jawline can also be slimmed by injecting these jaw muscles, thus feminising the face.

Hair Loss

There are many causes of thinning hair in men as well as women, and is an increasingly common problem.

Causes include genetic factors (pattern baldness), hormonal changes in women, alopecia or immune problems, scalp infections and certain medications. This can also be contributed to by things like poor nutrition and  stress .

However, often hair loss can be halted or reversed with modern non-invasive techniques which help the body to stimulate new hair follicles. Such as Autologous cell rejuvenation or PRP.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks result from shear forces on tightened skin. Stretch marks may result from pregnancy or other changes in the girth of limbs or the abdomen. Stretch marks are a form of  scar, which re-approximates the stretched skin surfaces.

tears to the connective tissue of the skin caused by rapid growth or over-stretching of the skin results in epidermal atrophy along the tear. The epidermis becomes thin, the elastic fibers break and retract. Stretch marks are a form of scarring similar to the healing after a wound separation.
